Visit some of the area’s finest vineyards to learn about the different terroirs or growing areas and their impact on the taste of wines. Bourgueil and St. Nicholas de Bourgueil have been producing wines for hundreds of years and are particularly known for their old-growth wines (with vines as much as 90 years old) and stone caves for maturing the wines. A visit to Chinon’s vineyards along the Vienne river will offer a different perspective. After lunch* (cost not included), there is a visit to a winery in the Saumur-Champigny area known for its troglodyte caves, and a visit to Saumur for one of its premier sparkling wines.
